ALTOONA, Pa. (WTAJ) – Asking for help or knowing where to turn in difficult situations can sometimes be a tricky thing. Incorporated Family Services helps people in the community in a variety of areas.

“At Family Services Incorporated, we offer a men’s, women’s and children’s shelter, a teen center and shelter, we provide counseling, we have group homes for people with developmental disabilities,” says the executive director, Lisa Hann.

Lisa and Ashley came to advertise their victim services program. “We provide services to people who have been victims of sexual violence, human trafficking, child abuse, any type of victimization, we are here for whatever they might need,” the director said. of the Victim Services Program, Ashley Gay Vocco.

Family Services Incorporated understands that speaking up and acknowledging that you need help can put people in a difficult situation. “Our services are free and confidential for anyone who needs us,” Vocco said.

Ashley says it’s important for people to understand what resources exist and are available. “Domestic violence is everywhere, sexual violence is everywhere, so our community is not immune to it,” Vocco said. “We want them to know that they are not alone and that they have choices and options.

The fifth annual Purple Purse event will take place on May 18. The event is a raffle for high and mid-range purses, there are also baskets to be won, 50/50 draws and a free meal! All proceeds from the event are intended to help those served by FSI.
