Bad weather affected thousands of NBN services in Greater Sydney | Liverpool City Champion
The NBN as of Thursday evening knew of around 10,600 services that had been affected in the Greater Sydney and South Coast areas, following the recent bad weather.
That was up from 8,000 on Wednesday. The worst affected areas remain the local government areas of Camden, Liverpool, Ryde and Shoalhaven.
An NBN spokesperson said they were staying in contact with authorities and working to restore services safely and as quickly as possible.
“However, current hazardous conditions may cause access delays in some areas,” they said.
“Remember that any equipment connected through the NBN Broadband Access Network will not work during a power outage.
“Where possible, residents of affected areas are encouraged to check the NBN’s outage page regularly and consult with their retail provider for further details.”
Since the floods began in Queensland and New South Wales, almost 325,000 services on the NBN network have been affected, of which more than 302,000 have been restored to date.
In total, up to $6 million in NBN flood relief funding will be made available to eligible telephone and internet service providers, which can then be passed on to their end customers.
