Heatwave ends as snow is expected to fall in Doncaster later this week
Residents have spent the past few days basking in the warm spring sunshine, but don’t step out of your winter clothes just yet as temperatures are expected to drop in the coming days with rain, sleet and snow all scheduled for Doncaster in the coming days.
The past week has seen a spell of warm weather, with many residents heading to parks, dining out and stripping as the mercury rises.
Temperatures are forecast to drop between 1c and 5c on Wednesday with rain changing to sleet showers as the day progresses.
The sleet could then turn to snow late Thursday evening and overnight.
The forecast for Thursday calls for light flurries and a gentle breeze, but the weather should improve as the day progresses with sunny spells, although temperatures will remain cool.
A Met Office spokesperson said: “Wednesday will be cloudy for many, with rain and snow on the hills in central and northern England and southern Scotland.
“Sunbursts and snow showers in Scotland.
“Rain and snow will drift further south overnight, and snow may fall to lower levels.
“Thursday will be windy and cold with sunny spells and wintry showers for many. Friday will see sunshine and isolated showers.”
At this stage the Met Office has not issued any weather warnings for Doncaster or the rest of the UK.
